Eleanor B. “Ellie” Taylor

AUBURN – Eleanor B. “Ellie” Taylor, 82, and longtime Auburn resident, died Thursday evening, June 13, 2024, surrounded by her family after a long illness.

She was born on April 6, 1942, in Bangor, one of two children of Dr. Russell and Doris (Martinage) Bridges. Ellie attended Fairfield schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1960. After high school, she completed her training as a laboratory technician at Thayer Hospital in Waterville.

Ellie met her future husband, Fred Taylor of Fairfield, in 1955 and they were married in Fairfield on July 22, 1961. They then moved to Lewiston for a few years and then settled in Auburn to raise their three sons. They remained in the same Auburn home for 58 years.

Ellie first worked at Central Maine General Hospital (CMMC) and later moved to the Auburn School Department where she spent over 30 years until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, crafting, and volunteering with her husband Fred at the Kora Temple Shrine, but more than anything, she enjoyed and cherished her family and their gatherings, whether simple or special.

A loving and supportive mother, she attended all of her sons’ sporting events as they grew up and went to school. She did the same for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also attended her great-granddaughter’s dance performances. Ellie was a loving and hard-working wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was always willing to help and volunteer without expecting anything in return. She will be sorely missed by her entire family. She now hugs her grandson Nicholas in heaven as they watch over their family here on earth.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Fred Taylor of Auburn; three sons, Michael Taylor of New Gloucester, Robert Taylor and his wife Mary Ellen of Auburn, and Jeffrey Taylor, also of Auburn; four grandchildren, Jessica Hutchinson and her husband Randy, Jessica Rubashkin and her husband Paul, Paul Michaud and her wife Ashley, and Craig Michaud and their fiancée Taylor Graul; five great-grandchildren, Randan and Jamison Hutchinson, Ellie and Michael Rubashkin, and Rory Michaud; her brother, Russell Bridges and his wife Ann of Embden; her niece, Lori Creamer, her husband Eric, and their daughter Kelsey; her nephew, Toby Bridges, his wife Tonia, and their children Cody and Abigale.

Ellie was preceded in death by her grandson Nicholas Taylor, her parents Dr. Russell and Doris Bridges, and her parents-in-law Douglas and Alice Taylor.

Viewing will be at Pinette, Dillingham and Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston, on Saturday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a brief memorial service at 1 p.m.
