BORN AGAIN stars reveal their role in honoring Netflix series during creative overhaul

Daredevil: Reborn has undergone many changes since it was first announced. About half of the 9-episode series had already been shot, but then Marvel Studios decided that it wasn’t working and that the creative team had taken the Man Without Fear in the wrong direction.

A major creative overhaul followed, which reportedly included the recruitment of new writers and directors and the return of more Daredevil Cast members, with at least a few actors being dropped from the cast and extensive changes being made to the story.

Now we have learned that Daredevil: Reborn Stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio also played a part in redesigning the series.

“Marvel was incredibly open-minded and willing to correct course, and incredibly supportive,” Cox told fans at Fan Expo Boston 2024 (via Popverse). “We tried something a little different at the beginning, and they realized very quickly that maybe it didn’t work as well as it could have.”

“I think I can speak for both of us and say that we feel very happy now,” concluded the actor.

D’Onofrio went on to say that neither of them had forgotten how much fans cared about the Netflix series and that they were keen to bring Marvel Studios to the attention during the revamp.

“The best thing about the situation is what Charlie just said about the bosses at Marvel, and also the fact that Charlie and I were a team. We just supported each other in whatever the other wanted, whether we were in the scene or not,” he explained. “It didn’t matter whether our characters appeared in it.”

“As a team, Charlie and I have taken the story and the fans into consideration. I’m not kidding you guys. We’ve constantly taken you into consideration and we’ve constantly spoken to you.”

Specific plot details have not yet been announced for Daredevil: Rebornbut we can get a rough idea from set photos and leaked plot lines. Matt Murdock will defend White Tiger in court, The Kingpin is mayor of New York City (and attacks the vigilantism he hates so much), and The Punisher takes aim at corrupt cops who have adopted his logo.

The Daredevil The stars of the new production are Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jon Bernthal, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, Jeremy Earl and Ayelet Zurer. Dario Scardapane (The Punisher) serves as showrunner.

It was recently confirmed that Daredevil: Reborn will premiere on Disney+ next March.
