The second day of Wimbledon on Tuesday will feature some superstars in action as tennis’ top stars battle it out for glory at the third Grand Slam of the season.
Seven-time champion Novak Djokovic and five-time Grand Slam winner Iga Swiatek are the headliners of the second day, with twelve British players set to compete at the All England Club.
Top 10 players Alex de Minaur, Hubert Hurkacz, Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev will also be represented in the men’s singles, while Jessica Pegula, Elena Rybakina and Marketa Vondrousova will also start their campaigns.
Top men’s match – Vit Kopriva vs Dovak Djokovic (2)
Djokovic will begin his quest for his record-breaking eighth Wimbledon title on Tuesday when he faces world number 123 Vit Kopriva.
The Serb relinquished his status as Wimbledon champion to Alcaraz last year as he lacked a Grand Slam title, but he can match Roger Federer’s title haul if he reclaims the crown this season.
Djokovic, 37, has had a difficult start to the season after failing to reach the final of the Australian Open in his bid to win his 11th title and then retiring from the French Open in the quarterfinals due to injury.
He has not played since withdrawing from Roland-Garros but is ready to return to the tournament where he won four consecutive titles from 2018 to 2022.
Top women’s game – Iga Swiatek (1) – Sofia Kenin
French Open champion Swiatek, who won her fourth title in Paris this season, is aiming for her first success at Wimbledon and wants to win her sixth Grand Slam title.
Swiatek has dominated at Roland-Garros in recent years, but her only other major success came at the 2022 US Open. The Polish sensation will certainly relish the chance to add another Grand Slam to her illustrious record at just 23 years old.
She will play her first test at Wimbledon on Tuesday against the American Sofia Kenin, who is ranked 48 places behind world number one Swiatek.
Swiatek comes into the tournament in relentless form, having won the French Open following previous successes at the Italian Open and Madrid Open.

There will be plenty of interest for home fans on Tuesday as Andy Murray is expected to make his final Wimbledon singles appearance when he begins his tournament on Centre Court against Tomas Machac.
Cameron Norrie will face Argentinian Facundo Diaz Acosta, while Jack Draper will face Swede Elias Ymer.
Elsewhere, Katie Boulter and Harriet Dart will face Tatjana Maria and Zhuoxuan Bai in their respective first round matches.
Dan Evans is one of the other British players who will begin their Wimbledon campaign on home soil.
