Ariana Grande commented on why she changes her voice

Ariana Grande not only changes position, she also changes her voice. Since she EvilGrande’s fans have noticed a change in the way she speaks. And after a recent interview clip went viral that pointed to a sudden change in Grande’s voice, the singer offered an explanation for why she “intentionally” changes the way she speaks depending on the situation.

The moment came during Grande’s June 17 performance at the Podcrushed Podcast. While answering a question, Grande’s voice noticeably got deeper as she began to answer, and then quickly returned to her higher register after she composed herself. A clip of the voice change went viral on social media, and Grande chimed in in the comments to explain things.

“Habit (of speaking like this for two years) and also vocal health,” the singer wrote. Apparently, her years of playing Glinda are only part of the reason she makes a conscious effort to speak a certain way. “I often change my vocal pitch (high/low) intentionally depending on how much I’m singing. I’ve always done that, BYE.”

This is not the first time Grande has mentioned this singing method. When she was doing press work for VictoriousGrande said that during a day full of interviews, she spoke in a higher pitch to keep her voice healthy.

It is also true that Grande has been singing live a lot more lately, from late-night sets to headlining the Met Gala. She is also releasing new remixes for her Forget it! songs, and fans believe she might announce a tour soon.

And of course, besides all that, she will also appear on the screen as Glinda when the first part of Evil will be in theaters on November 27th.

Grande’s casting was announced back in 2021, and filming in London took over a year as the sprawling musical adaptation was split into two films released a year apart. Since then, Grande’s fans have pointed out that she started speaking like Glinda in real life, such as when she performed in a high, sing-song voice at the 2024 Oscars.

But it sounds like Grande isn’t completely under Glinda’s spell and can change her voice whenever she feels it’s necessary.
