Security footage appears to show Sean “Diddy” Combs attacking R&B singer Cassie in the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel in 2016.

The video, which was obtained by US broadcaster CNN, apparently shows Combs, wearing only a white towel, chasing his former partner, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, and kicking her to the ground.

The footage also appears to show the US music mogul dragging Ms Ventura behind him and throwing a vase in her direction.

A representative for Combs was contacted for comment. He has previously denied all allegations against him.

The video is dated March 5, 2016, and appears to match the description of an incident at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles that is the subject of a now-settled lawsuit that Ms. Ventura originally filed in November.

The court document states: “In or about March 2016, during a FO at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles, Mr. Combs was extremely intoxicated and punched Ms. Ventura in the face, causing her a black eye.”

In the lawsuit, which was settled a day after it was filed in New York federal court, Ms Ventura alleged that she was the victim of rape and violence during their 10-year relationship.

In a statement on the video footage, Douglas H. Wigdor, Ms. Ventura’s attorney, said: “The harrowing video only further confirmed Mr. Combs’ disturbing and predatory behavior.”

“Words cannot express the courage and strength Ms. Ventura showed in bringing this to light.”

Combs has since been named as a defendant in several sex abuse lawsuits, and in March his properties in Los Angeles and Miami were raided by federal authorities as part of an alleged sex trafficking investigation.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Friday that the assault captured in the video would no longer be lawful to prosecute if it had occurred in 2016.

“We are aware of a video circulating online that allegedly shows Sean Combs attacking a young woman in Los Angeles,” the statement said.

“We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to bear.

“If the conduct described had occurred in 2016, we would unfortunately not be able to bring charges because the conduct would have occurred after the point in time at which a crime of assault can be prosecuted.

“To date, law enforcement has not presented a case related to the attack on Mr. Combs depicted in the video, but we encourage anyone who has been a victim or witness of a crime to report it to law enforcement or contact our office for assistance from our Bureau of Victims Services.
