Teaser for “Chutney Sambar”: Yogi Babu’s signature chutney competes with Nizhalgal Ravi’s famous sambar in this comedy series

We had previously reported that actor Yogi Babu will play the lead role in an upcoming Disney+ Hotstar original series titled Sambar chutneystarring Vani Bhojan and directed by ace director Radhamohan. The streamer has released a unique teaser video of the series today.

The video initially features actor Nizhalgal Ravi as the patriarch of a family that runs Amudha Cafe, a small restaurant known for its tasty sambar. In a surprising turn of events, the family stumbles upon the roadside eatery Amudha Unavagam, played by Yogi Babu’s character, known for its secret chutney recipe. When Ravi’s character falls ill and Amudha Cafe goes through turbulent times, the family decides to strike a unique deal with Yogi Babu’s character: they swap the chutney and sambar recipes for mutual benefit, a move that seems to lead to a comedy of errors.

Sambar chutney starring R Sundarrajan, ‘Kayal’ Chandramouli, Nitin Sathyaa, Charlie and Kumaravel in lead roles. Mynaa Nandini, Deepa Shankar and Samyuktha Vishwanath are also part of the cast, while child artists Ilan, Akilan and Keshav Raj will also be seen in the series.

With music by Ajesh Ashok (from Super Singer fame), the upcoming series will be edited by Pon Parthiban, cinematographer by Prasanna Kumar, editor by Jijendran. Chutney Sambar’s production will be handled by Vels Film International.

Notably, this marks Yogi Babu’s debut as a lead actor in a feature-length series; the actor had previously starred in a segment of the Netflix anthology series. Navarasa.
