Taylor Swift gets emotional at her last performance in Liverpool and sings a song co-written with Joe Alwyn

On Saturday night, Taylor Swift performed her last Eras Tour show in Liverpool before travelling to Cardiff and then London. The star was reportedly Daily Mailwhen she sang “Champagne Problems” from 2020 Always, a song she wrote with her ex-boyfriend, with whom she was together for six years Joe Alwyn.

The crowd responded strongly to the tune and Swift took off her headphones to listen to it before saying: “It’s really a huge honour to play in front of a crowd like this. The fact that you guys do this for us – I love you so much, Liverpool. Thank you.”

This weekend, Alwyn spoke about his split from Swift for the first time since their split in 2023, telling the Sunday Times UK about the difficulty of overcoming a private divide in public.

“I hope everyone can understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving and committed relationship of over six and a half years,” he explained. “It’s difficult to cope with. What is unusual and abnormal about this situation is that a week later it is suddenly public knowledge and the outside world can express its opinion.”

He added that despite the existence of Swift’s art and music in the world, there are many people who do not know about it.

“So you have something very real that is suddenly thrown into a very unreal space: tabloids, social media, press, where it is then dissected, speculated about and distorted beyond recognition,” he explained. “And the truth is that, on that last point, there will always be a gap between what is known and what is said. I’ve come to terms with that.”

He continued: “As everyone knows, we mutually decided – both of us, mutually – to keep the more private details of our relationship private. It was never something that could be commodified, and I see no reason to change that now. And look, that was just over a year ago, and I’m happy that I’m at a really great place in my life, both professionally and personally.”
