Tax-deductible donations that help us defend democracy

Today, July 1, we launch Christmas in July – the biggest fundraiser of the year for Ark Valley Voice. We’re calling it Christmas in July not just because of the season, but because we’re thanking our readers and supporters and asking for your help as this is the start of our fiscal year. We’re having fun with it, but it’s serious.

As a nonprofit local news organization focused on fact-based, unbiased and investigative reporting, we’re not in it for the money. We’re here to give voice to the truth. But this year, as we continue to cover the 2024 election, our work to hold candidates and campaigns accountable is more important than ever. Because this year, nothing less than democracy itself is on the ballot.

Our fundraising goal for this holiday month of July is $30,000, and we desperately need it to get us through the coming months. 100 percent of all donations go to paying our working journalists, and 100 percent of your tax-deductible donation stays here in this valley.

If you value the news we provide to our readers for free six days a week, we ask that you please take a moment, starting today and beginning July 1, to click the “Donate” button on this page to make a one-time or recurring donation to Ark Valley Voice.

This year Ark Valley Voice (AVV) has expanded our coverage, we have hired another reporter and improved our Spanish-language translation. For those who enjoy audio news, we produce a weekly podcast partnership where we deliver our news to KHEN Radio. More announcements are in the pipeline.

This is what it means to be a nonprofit news organization:

  • We are independent and committed only to the truth and ethical reporting of fact-based news. We have received awards from the Colorado Press Association for the quality of our reporting.
  • We are not here to make profit; we are here to give voice to the truth
  • We are on site; our board and our journalists live and work here.
  • We don’t tell you what to think, we give you food for thought – about candidates and issues – and we don’t endorse candidates.
  • We are brave. We bring new stories to light, expose injustices and ask difficult questions. We hold those in power to account and in doing so safeguard the important role of the free and independent press in our democracy.

As we said when we accepted the CPA First Amendment Award, “Democracy is worth defending.”

If you value our work, help us to continue this work and celebrate Christmas in July. On behalf of the entire AVV Crew – Please consider making a 100% tax-deductible donation today and partner with us in preserving real local news. Thank you!
