The Wolverine on replacing 5 starters in Michigan’s OL and weapons in the TE room I #GoBlue

The Michigan Wolverines go into the 2024 football season and replace all five starters in the offensive line from their run to the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2023. One of the key figures will be tackle Myles Hintonwho has had a season with ups and downs, but is expected to start on the left side in the current group.

Anthony Broome and Clayton Sayfie of TheWolverine.com spoke about Hinton and the likely starters on the offensive line on Monday night’s show, as well as giving an overview of the tight end team and answering questions from fans.

“There’s a lot to like (about Hinton), but there’s also a whole bunch of question marks,” Sayfie said of Hinton, who transferred from Stanford ahead of the 2023 season. “He’s a fifth-year senior, but at the same time, he wasn’t good enough to go to the NFL last year. He lost his starting spot. He also battled injuries, which is worth noting last season. But he’s started a significant number of games in college football. Last season, he earned a starting spot early on and beat out some guys who turned out to be pretty good players. LaDarius Henderson started the year on the bench, then moved to left. Karsen Barnhart slides to right. I think that was a pretty ideal lineup. He also beat out Trente Jones, who finished the year at right tackle after Zak Zinter got injured and Barnhart moved back to right guard.

“It’s pretty impressive that he was able to do that when he was healthy after fall training camp, but at the same time, he didn’t perform that well in some of those games and was passed over. Do I expect him to be a first-round pick? No. Do I think he could be pretty damn good and an All-Big Ten type of player? Absolutely. But I don’t know if I would bet on it at this point, just because I haven’t seen it. But he’s got experience, and there are other guys on that line with experience.”
