Javon Frazier death: Suspect still at large after man shot on Main Street in Houston’s Midtown

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – It has been more than a year since 22-year-old Javon Frazier was killed in a shooting in Midtown on June 18, 2023.

According to Houston police, the fatal shooting occurred at 2121 Main Street around 11 p.m. that evening; the suspect has not yet been arrested.

Frazier’s mother, Claudette Malone, spoke to ABC13 from Virginia Monday afternoon.

“It’s heartbreaking,” Malone said. “I just want answers. I just want to know what’s going on.”

Malone said her son was living in Houston at the time of the shooting but plans to return to his family in Virginia.

She said Frazier was walking home from the gym the night he was shot.

According to the Harris County Coroner’s Office, Frazier died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and extremities.

Another man was also shot but survived.

Investigators describe the suspect as a man wearing a black hoodie and dark shorts, but have not released any further details.

“It’s really disheartening,” Malone said.

Malone contacted ABC13 this weekend to say she had not heard from HPD about her son’s case since January.

Eyewitness News called the department Monday morning and that afternoon a Lieutenant called Malone to tell her they had the name of a suspect and were still working the case.

“I just want to get this killer off the streets,” Malone said. “I don’t want him to kill anybody’s family member and get away with it.”
