“John Singer Sargent: Fashion and Swagger” will be shown at the Strand on July 9

ROCKLAND — The Strand Theatre shows John Singer Sargent: Fashion and boasting as a high-resolution Exhibition On Screen presentation on Thursday, July 9, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

In collaboration with leading international museums and galleries, Exhibition On Screen creates films that provide a cinematic immersion in the world’s most popular art, accompanied by insights from leading historians and art critics.

John Singer Sargent is considered the greatest portrait artist of his time. What made his “Swagger” portraits so remarkable was his power over his subjects, what they wore and how they were presented to the audience, The Strand said in a press release. Through interviews with curators, contemporary fashionistas and style influencers, the film from Exhibition on Screen will explore how Sargent’s unique practice has influenced modern art, culture and fashion. Filmed at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and Tate Britain, London.

The running time is 1 hour 30 minutes.

Tickets: $15/General Admission, $12/Beach Members. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit www.rocklandstrand.com or call (207) 594-0070 EX 3.
