MTG’s press conference before the capitulation with Steve Bannon gets completely out of hand

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) held a press conference Monday afternoon that was brutally disrupted by protesters as she attempted to rally support for Steve Bannon before he turned himself in to begin his four-month prison sentence.

Greene trekked north to Danbury, Connecticut, to stand alongside her MAGA comrade, who put his arm around her as he attempted to be martyred as a victim of political persecution.

At one point, a sign hung behind Greene that read “bleach blonde, poorly built, masculine body,” a reference to the insult Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas recently hurled at Greene during a dispute on Capitol Hill.

Greene and Bannon also had to speak over loud cowbells and chants of “lock him up,” footage from the scene shows. The chants became so loud that they largely drowned out Greene’s words during a Newsmax broadcast of the press conference.

A protester was heard repeatedly shouting “little dick” as Greene began speaking to reporters.

Greene tried to cut through the noise, claiming that the country’s political parties were “basically at war” with each other, a comment that was met with a sing-song “Trump lost.”

“Is anyone else there, or are they enjoying more cowbells?” Greene asked, finally turning to the protesters. “That’s all the Democrats have.”

The chaos was reminiscent of Peter Navarro’s press conferences outside a Washington courthouse in September, where cowbells and harshly worded signs made it almost impossible for him to speak without being disturbed. Like Navarro, a federal jury convicted Bannon of contempt of Congress for defying an order to testify before the House about the Jan. 6, 2021, riots.

Also appearing in support of Bannon was controversial Republican-backed Senate candidate Royce White, who, as is his usual practice, had some bizarre words to say about Bannon’s imprisonment.

“When the gulag opens, you’ll all be in there next,” he said, appearing to refer to the reporters in front of him. White is known for being hostile toward journalists, and even took the time to directly denounce The Daily Beast last month after investigations were launched into his failure to pay child support and his use of campaign funds to pay strippers.

Before the press conference ended and Bannon went to prison himself, he decided to end the spectacle by chanting “Down with the Chinese Communist Party.” He was then blessed by a priest and the press conference ended.
