Family of Crazy Town singer Shifty Shellshock talks about his death

The family of Shifty Shellshock, real name Seth Binzer, have broken their silence following the death of the Crazy Town frontman at the age of 49.

“For Seth, the world was art – he loved every part of it, from music and fashion to graffiti, skateboarding and his hometown of Los Angeles,” Shellshock’s family said in a statement to The Sun.

“He loved his three boys more than anything and his devotion to his music and his fans never waned.”

Shellshock leaves behind three children – sons Halo, Gage and Phoenix – whom he had with three different women, which the statement describes as his “proudest achievements.”

Shellshock was found dead in his Los Angeles home on June 24. Three days later, the Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed that the artist’s cause of death was an accidental drug overdose.

“Seth struggled with addiction his entire life, and doing so on a very public platform was particularly challenging,” his family’s statement continued. “God knows he tried so hard to conquer his demons, but unfortunately he lost his battle.”

They concluded: “We are heartbroken by his loss. Seth’s overwhelming presence touched so many. Seth was a tortured soul, but he was beautiful and had a heart of gold.”

Shellshock’s drug past was no secret, as he had appeared on the reality TV shows “Celebrity Rehab” and “Sober House” earlier in his career.

Shellshock founded the rap-rock band Crazy Town with Bret “Epic” Mazur in 1995.
