Mother charged with first-degree murder in connection with fentanyl death of her child | Local Nevada

According to a police report, a woman is accused of first-degree murder in connection with the death of her child, which was attributed to fentanyl.

On June 6, 2023, a neighbor of 31-year-old Kiera McCall called 911 because her child was not breathing, the Metropolitan Police Department report states. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in cardiac arrest, received Narcan, a drug used to treat overdoses, and was placed on a ventilator, but died on June 9, 2023.

McCall was arrested on Wednesday.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office concluded that the cause of death was “toxic effects of fentanyl” and that it was an accident.

McCall had told her neighbors that “the baby may have found heroin under the bed,” police said. Her neighbors said she appeared to be under the influence of drugs; although her baby was not breathing, she did not appear to be in a hurry, her neighbors told police, according to the report.

In an interview with police, McCall said she performed CPR. She said she used marijuana and had recently smoked meth and taken heroin. A roommate also took heroin, she told police, but she said there were no narcotics in her apartment.

According to the report, police found a glass pipe and a syringe in her apartment.

According to police, McCall’s blood contained amphetamine, methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Clark County Detention Center records show McCall is still in custody and a hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
