Delegation from Chihuahua travels to Michigan to strengthen the industrial ecosystem

CHIHUAHUA – As part of the collaboration between the Government of the State of Chihuahua and the William Davidson Institute (WDI) of the University of Michigan, authorities from the public and private sectors participated in a work program in the cities of Ann Arbor and Detroit, in the state of Michigan, with the aim of exchanging practices and tools to promote the transition of the Chihuahua industry to electric mobility.

The delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development of Chihuahua (SIDE), the Institute for Support to Technological Development (INADET), the Institute of Innovation and Competitiveness (I2C) and the Promoter for Economic Development of Chihuahua (PRODECH). In addition, representatives from the Autonomous University of Chihuahua (UACH), the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) and the Center for Research on Advanced Materials (CIMAV) were present.

During the work program, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the University of Michigan’s initiatives and MCity facilities, as well as Ann Arbor SPARK, a space that houses mobility technology startups.

In addition, the Chihuahua delegation visited the Michigan University Research Corridor, an academic cluster that promotes talent, research and economic revitalization in the state, and spoke with executives of companies implementing electric mobility to improve connectivity and transportation automation.

In this context, they spoke with experts and authorities about practices, programs and opportunities to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, talent and technology development. They also learned more about the Global Mobility Epicenter, a multi-organizational initiative that aims to achieve a successful future in mobility.

In Detroit, they toured the recently opened Newlab and Michigan Central Station, a global hub for mobility innovation, as well as the TechTown center for entrepreneurship. They also met with representatives from MICHAuto, Michigan’s automotive, mobility and technology cluster association.

The tour also included business leaders from organizations such as Autocluster Chihuahua, Desarrollo Económico de Chihuahua AC (DESEC), Desarrollo Económico de Ciudad Juárez (DECJ), Frente Norte and AMN International.
