Gretchen Whitmer’s book is being published as she is being touted as a Biden replacement

Does she have a political crystal ball?

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s book is scheduled to hit stores on July 9, the same time that prominent media outlets – including the New York Times, the New Yorker and the Economist – have called on President Biden to drop out of the race.

We exclusively reported earlier this year that Whitmer – who is considered a possible successor to Biden – had signed a seven-figure book deal with Simon & Schuster.

The book “True Gretch: What I’ve Learned About Life, Leadership, and Everything in Between” is about to be published and a source told Page Six: “Her gamble with the book deal seems to have paid off.”

The insider added: “Her team and her publisher will likely be doing everything possible over the next two weeks to make Gretchen Whitmer a household name, starting with her book.”

The insider added: “The book was based almost entirely on the possibility that Biden would collapse in the debate and have to be replaced in July.”

But so far, Whitmer – a co-chair of Biden’s 2024 campaign – has stood behind the president.

On Monday, she posted about X: “If we want to protect our fundamental freedoms and our democracy, we must re-elect @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris.”

However, there are increasing calls within the party to “convene Gretch,” as her voters affectionately call her.

Other potential Biden successors being considered alongside Whitmer include Vice President Kamala Harris, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

As the Washington Post reported, a staggering 72 percent of registered voters do not believe Biden has the “mental and cognitive health required to serve as president,” according to two new polls.

Only 27 percent of respondents to a CBS News/YouGov poll said Biden, 81, has the mental strength to be commander in chief, down from just over two weeks ago.

A representative for Whitmer did not immediately return our comments.

Blurbs for the book come from Kara Swisher, “Wonder Woman” star Lynda Carter and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who wrote, “This book is both a guide to getting things done and a source of inspiration for engaged citizens in our democracy.”
