4 people arrested in Baldwin County and charged with manslaughter after overdose death

BALDWIN COUNTY, Alabama (WKRG) – Four suspects had a bail hearing this morning after being charged with manslaughter in connection with an overdose death.

The suspects are 27-year-old Gerald Lee Anderson III of Spanish Fort, 22-year-old Madison Lee Hayek of Silverhill, 25-year-old Malia Autumn Decautur of Spanish Fort and 32-year-old Roshell Michael Benson of Brewton.

News 5 has learned that four suspects were arrested following the overdose death of a woman that reportedly occurred Saturday night in Orange Beach.

Authorities said all suspects were arrested together after they were found in a car stopped south of Fairhope.

The bail hearing for Anderson, Hayek, Decautur and Benson was the first case to be heard under a law that went into effect in April creates mandatory minimum quantities for fentanyl dealerssaid officials.

The suspects now face the following penalties, officials said.

Anderson:

  • $100,000 bail, GPS house arrest and drug tests
  • He was out on bail following a previous arrest; a hearing to revoke his bail has been scheduled

Hayek:

  • $100,000 for manslaughter
  • $10,000 for ownership
  • $500 for utensils
  • $500 for tampering with evidence

Decatur:

  • $50,000 for manslaughter
  • GPS house arrest
  • Drug test

Benson:

  • $100,000 for manslaughter
  • $5,000 for distribution
  • $10,000 for possession of fentanyl
  • $500 for utensils
