Julianne Moore (May December), Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus) and Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) Netflix’s Sirensa female-led black comedy miniseries from Emmy-nominated writer and showrunner Molly Smith Metzler (maid) and executive produced by LuckyChap.

An adaptation of Metzler’s play Elemeno peawhich she wrote at the Juilliard School, the show centers on Devon, who finds her sister Simone has a truly sinister relationship with their new boss, the enigmatic socialite Michaela Kell. Michaela’s cult-like life of luxury is like a drug to Simone and Devon has decided it’s time for an intervention. When Devon tracks down her sister to say WTF, she has no idea what a formidable opponent Michaela will be. Told over the course of an explosive weekend at the Kells’ lavish beachfront estate, the show is a sharp, sexy and darkly humorous take on women, power and class.

Fahy plays Devon DeWitt, who is on the downswing in her hometown. She is funny, resilient and fiercely protective – especially of her younger sister Simone, played by Alcock. Simone is smart and charming and has hit the jackpot as a billionaire’s personal assistant.

Moore plays Michaela Kell, a philanthropist and animal rights activist who rules the island’s high society and is the wife of billionaire Peter Kell. Her relationship with her assistant Simone seems too close to be comfortable.

In addition to the show and script, Metzler will also serve as an executive producer on Quiet Coyote, along with Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley and Margot Robbie for LuckyChap. Emmy-nominated Nicole Kassell (Guardian) will direct the first two episodes and also serve as EP.

Sirens is the first series from Metzler’s creative partnership with Netflix, announced in 2022, and follows the Margaret Qualley-directed miniseries maidher first highly acclaimed project with the streamer, which earned her nominations for the Emmy, the Humanitas Prize and the USC Scripter Award.

An Oscar winner who recently starred in Todd Haynes’ acclaimed Netflix picture May December and Starz’s Mary and GeorgeMoore will next be seen in Pedro Almodóvar’s first English-language feature film, The room next door; Apple’s Thriller Echo Valley with Sydney Sweeney and Domhnall Gleeson; and the action thriller control to James McAvoy.

Known for her Emmy-nominated role as Daphne in The White Lotus Season 2 and for her leading role as Sutton Brady in Freeforms The brave guyFahy joins the cast of Vertical’s upcoming genre-bender Your Monsterwhich premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Other upcoming projects include Netflix’s star-studded limited crime series The perfect couplewhich we were the first to report on; Christopher Landon’s thriller Fall for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes; and Jonn Gunn’s The unbreakable boy.

An Australian actress who broke through with her role as young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the HBO series House of the DragonAlcock recently faced an even more coveted role as she was tapped by DC to lead Supergirl: The Woman of Tomorrow.

Previously, Metzler also worked as a writer and co-EP for Showtime’s ShamelessHis other authors include Hulu’s Casual and Netflix Orange is the new black.
