The Searsmont Library’s 34th Annual Book and Bake Sale will be held on Saturday, July 13

The Searsmont Town Library will present its 34th annual book and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, at the Searsmont Community Building. The event will also include a silent auction, a garage sale at Grandma’s Attic, a raffle, tours of the Historical Society barn and live music by the Pinwheel Brothers from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Activities for children between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. include an interactive visit to a Searsmont fire truck, the opportunity to meet guide dogs and their trainers, and face painting.

This year, visitors can choose from hundreds of hardback and paperback books for adults and children at the book sale, and the bake sale will feature homemade pies, cakes, muffins, cookies and more.

The silent auction will feature beautiful handcrafted items such as wooden bowls, needlepoint embellished seat cushions and a child-sized quilt, as well as plenty of gift cards from popular local restaurants and shops.

This year’s Grandma’s Attic Flea Market is hosted by Delta Kappa Gamma, a nonprofit organization that supports the professional development of female educators. Proceeds will benefit their organization. Raffles will be offered for a rafting trip on the St. George River.

Acoustic trio The Pinwheel Brothers, known for their upbeat old-time sound, also mixes bluegrass and folk rock. The band members are songwriter Ben Hatfield on guitar and lead vocals, Phil Mancini on mandolin, banjo, guitar and vocals, and Vic Tredwell on double bass and vocals.

The proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the collection and operation of the library.

The Searsmont Town Library has more than 1,200 users from Searsmont, Belmont, Appleton, Morrill, Belfast and other communities.

In addition to its book collection, it offers e-books, high-speed computer access and Wi-Fi; exhibits featuring the work of local artists; storytimes, music lessons and reading programs for children; the Live Outside The Library summer concert series, a seed collection program and more. The library accepts book donations year-round for its annual sale; books can be dropped off at the library during open hours.

The Searsmont Community Building is located on South Main Street (corner of Routes 131 and 173). For more information about the book and bake sale, visit www.searsmont.com or call the library at 342-5549.
