Mary Earps: “I love the vision of the club”

Paris Saint-Germain’s new goalkeeper told PSG TV about the latest step in her career.

Mary, welcome to Paris! How does it feel to be a Paris Saint-Germain player?

“It’s an incredible feeling. I’m very proud to be joining Paris Saint-Germain and to be able to wear this jersey.”

For you it is a new challenge, a new city, a new country. Why did you want to come to Paris Saint-Germain?

“I love the vision of the club. When you see the ambitions, the goals that the team sets for itself… The club wants to be the best in Europe, maybe even the world. I have the same ambitions and I want to play for the best teams in the world. I want to win many trophies. That is a real goal of the club and I am excited to be part of this project.”

You have a lot of experience and were named best goalkeeper at the last World Cup. You are highly respected and very talented. What do you think you can contribute to the team on and off the pitch?

“I want to bring my experience and leadership qualities. I talk a lot and encourage my teammates a lot. I hope I can bring these qualities to help the team win as many games as possible and win as many trophies as possible. I’m here to win.”

What type of goalkeeper are you?

“I have a lot of energy and I’m very passionate. I work hard to do my best, always with the aim of helping the team. I want to be that kind of goalkeeper who is always ready to take the team up and achieve the best results.”

You will experience a new league. What do you know about the French league?

“I’ve watched a lot of French league games in recent months. It’s interesting to see how much everything has changed with this new format and the play-off tournament. It’s a very competitive league with some very good teams. And I’m looking forward to discovering them.”

You already know many of your new teammates because you have played against them at international level. What do you know about the team you are joining?

“It’s a very strong team. There’s a lot of quality there and the future is very promising! I hope that I can give the team a little extra.”

What are the goals for next season?

“Play good football, work hard for the team and – I hope – win as many trophies as possible. That’s the plan!”

There is a pre-season tour to Australia coming up. How important are pre-season tours for the teams?

“There’s a lot of travel to Australia at the moment. I was lucky enough to go there for the World Cup and the coffee they make there is amazing! But most of all, it’s a good opportunity to unite the team, work hard to prepare for the season and play some good games.”

Do you have a message for the fans?

“Hello to all PSG fans. I’m very happy to be here and I promise you that I will work hard and give my all on and off the pitch. Ici c’est Paris!”
