Start of production of season 2 of One Piece Live-Action announced

The ONE PIECE The production of the second live-action season was officially announced and a special main cast reunion video was revealed. The sequel previously revealed more cast members, including actors Dorry, Brogy and Crocus from 4 Baroque Works agents, as well as Smoker, Tashigi, Wapol and Dalton.

ONE PIECE Season 2 Live Action – Start of Production Video

In the live-action series, Matt Owens (Agents of SHIELD, Luke Cage) and Steven Maeda (The X-Files, CSI: Miami, Lost) as writers, executive producers, and showrunners. The creator, Eiichiro Oda, is also one of the executive producers of the show. We also had the chance to interview the cinematographer of the first two episodes, Nicole Hirsch Whitaker, and we talked a bit about the production, cast, staff, challenges, fun, and more. The first season premiered on August 31 and topped Netflix’s global English TV rankings with 18.5 million views, 140.1 million hours watched and an average runtime of 7:34 hours. It retained its top spot in its 2nd week, marking a major achievement for the adaptation. Producers previously said that production on the sequel could take between 12 and 18 months after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike. The strike ended on November 9, 2023.

The ONE PIECE The manga was written and drawn by Eiichiro Oda and currently has 1117 chapters, while the anime adaptation has 1119 episodes. VIZ Media has licensed the manga in English and Crunchyroll streams the anime. They describe the story:
Monkey D. Luffy will not let anything or anyone stop him from becoming the king of all pirates. His course takes him into the dangerous waters of the Grand Line and beyond. This captain will never give up until he has captured the greatest treasure in the world: the legendary One Piece!
