Chris Paul signs one-year, million contract with San Antonio Spurs

Point guard Chris Paul, currently out of contract, is signing a one-year deal worth over $11 million with the San Antonio Spurs, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal came together quickly after the Golden State Warriors released Paul on the day his $30 million salary for the 2024-25 season was set to become guaranteed.

Paul, 39, will spend his 20th NBA season in San Antonio, working with coach Gregg Popovich and 20-year-old star center Victor Wembanyama. Last season, Paul was benched for the Warriors, starting only 18 of 58 games and averaging 9.2 points and 6.8 assists. With 11,894 assists, Paul is the NBA’s third-leading assist total of all time, filling a key gap as the Spurs look to build a winning team.
