Everyone knows Taylor Swift and has heard one of her songs at least once in their life. The global star has millions of fans around the world, which shows how much her songs influence people all over the world.

A global pop star of this size should also go on a world tour, which she has been doing since 2009, starting with the Fearless tour. Swift has since undertaken five more world tours, with The Epoch Tour currently underway and ends in December 2024.

However, there have been waves of concern recently about her use of private jets, which the public finds to be quite excessive. Due to the hate, she subsequently sold one of her private jets. In this article, we will explore what is causing all the hate and the details of Swift’s sky-high chariot.

A good reason for a private flight

When transporting VIPs, many try to maximize privacy and save time. Most achieve this by booking first-class tickets on a scheduled flight, but people with more money can afford to fly private.

While this is more expensive than scheduled flights (even in first class), it guarantees maximum privacy. Taylor Swift and many other celebrities like Post Malone, Tom Cruise and Imagine Dragons seem to prioritize privacy and time and are known to travel worldwide on private jets.

But why is Taylor so hated? Let’s find out.

Taylor Swift’s private flight

Taylor owned three private jets from the French aircraft manufacturer Dassault. Specifically, she owned a Dassault Falcon 900 and a Dassault Falcon 7X. The Falcon 900 was registered as N898TS (where TS may stand for Taylor Swift’s initials), while the Falcon 7X was registered as N621MM.

She also owned a small nine-seat Dassault Falcon 50 jet in 2012. She sold the plane before her private jet use became a problem in 2020 and donated the money to charity.

Taylor used the Falcon 900 from 2011 until recently. She used the Falcon 900 for her world travel and personal purposes, while her team rented the jet out when it was not being used by Swift (according to her representative).

In 2022, it was reported that this jet was used over 170 times in just seven months, although it is claimed that Taylor or her team only used some of these flights.

The spokesman made the following statement regarding the extensive use of the jet:

“Taylor’s jet is regularly loaned out to other people. To attribute most or all of these trips to her is patently incorrect.”

While the Falcon 900 was a reliable means of transportation for Taylor, in 2018 she purchased another jet, a Falcon 7X with registration number N621MM. The Falcon 7X is an improved version of the Falcon 900 with a 20% longer fuselage and 48% greater range.

This gives the Falcon 7X a range of about 11,000 km, compared to the 7,400 km of the Falcon 900. For Taylor, this was definitely an improvement, and she began to favor the Falcon 7X. The 7X reportedly flew 15 times and the 900 6 times in October 2023.

After drawing attention to its jet deployment in early 2024, Swift sold the Falcon 900 and operated only the Falcon 7X. The Falcon 900, N898TS, has since been owned by Missouri-based TRIANGLE REAL ESTATE LLC.

Reception lights for use in private jets

On July 30, 2022 Rolling Stone published an article exposing Swift’s excessive use of private jets. She was ranked the number one celebrity emitting the most carbon dioxide and was condemned for it.

Swift’s representative countered that she was not the only one using her jets, as many employees used them and they were also rented out to others when Swift was not using them. However, at the end of 2023, it was revealed that she produced 8,293 tonnes of carbon in the first half of 2023 alone.

Taylor defended herself by saying she had purchased the relevant emissions rights, but her team warned American college student Jack Sweeny that she would take legal action against him for tracking her private jets and publishing those flights on social media.

She also found herself in the spotlight again in early 2024 for using her jet during her concerts and attending the Super Bowl at the same time.

She had to make a round trip between Tokyo, where The Epoch Tour took place and Los Angeles attended the Super Bowl.

Since then, numerous media outlets have again reported on her excessive use of private jets. This time, it has become a meme on social media, with people on Instagram and TikTok making fun of Taylor’s use of private jets. Some Swifties (Taylor fans) even expressed concerns about her use of private jets.

Since then, it has sold its first private jet, the Falcon 900, registration N898TS, in February 2024. It retains its Falcon 7X, N621MM, and numerous internet entities such as Reddit are tracking it.

Is Taylor Swift the only problem here?

It’s perhaps a little unfair to Swift, as many celebrities worldwide use private jets. This is a problem with celebrities in general, not just Taylor Swift. As mentioned, Tom Cruise, Post Malone and many others also use private jets.

With the number of private jet flights on the rise, management companies and labels should look for alternative transportation options while maximizing safety. Flying on scheduled flights is a great way to reduce carbon emissions, and well-known celebrities like Aespa and Billie Eilish are already doing it.
