Feadship’s Thalassa superyacht features the most complex beach club the shipyard has ever built

Feadship’s Thalassa superyacht features the most complex beach club the shipyard has ever built

Not only is Feadship one of the world’s leading builders of bespoke superyachts, it’s also incredibly prolific. Not a week goes by without the company announcing details of one of its projects. And with no fewer than four construction sites, it’s common for the yard to be working on several projects at once.

One of the Dutch shipyard’s latest projects is Thalassa, an 80-meter superyacht named after the Greek goddess who personifies the sea. Just like previous yachts in the shipbuilder’s extensive fleet, Thalassa has unique features and amenities that make her a one-of-a-kind design.

The new vessel is elegant and graceful, and cuts a dashing figure on the water. The exterior is quite different from what we are used to seeing from Feadship, and that is probably because it was designed by Malcolm McKeon, a designer known for working mainly on sailing yachts. His previous experience is certainly reflected in Thalassa’s aesthetic. The naval architecture is being completed by Feadship De Voogt, while Milan-based studio M2Atelier is taking care of the interiors.

In honor of the goddess who inspired the name, Thalassa “offers a heavenly experience at sea and features expansive decks with panoramic windows that bring the beauty of the ocean closer to passengers.”

Specific details of the new yacht are still being kept top secret, but it is said that she truly embodies the spirit of the Greek beach goddess. Built with a teak deck, steel hull and aluminum superstructure, the sleek exterior lines give her a sleek appearance. The dark hull looks stunning on the water while also having the effect of lowering the profile.

At first glance, the exceptionally long foredeck is striking, which gives the yacht a sporty look and visually enhances it.

The real highlight of this new ship, however, is the dazzling Beach Club, designed as a premier place for fun and relaxation. According to Feadship, this is actually the most complex beach club the company has ever created in its 75-year history. It stretches across a whopping 165 square meters (1,776 square feet) thanks to three large side openings, creating a seamless connection to the surrounding ocean.

This exceptional beach club is located directly beneath a large glass-bottomed swimming pool and therefore benefits from filtered natural light. Guests can access the oasis of leisure and relaxation via a central floating staircase from the aft deck, and a covered sunken area can be fitted out with lounges and sun pads to add some coziness to the space. Massive glass doors, one of which spans almost the entire 13-meter (43-foot) width, seamlessly connect indoor and outdoor areas, and their construction was a complex process that required additional analysis of structural forces.

Thalassa has several other outdoor and indoor spaces that beautifully combine luxury and craftsmanship, details of which are likely to be announced soon.

In terms of performance, the superyacht Thalassa is expected to reach a top speed of 16 knots and offer a range of 5,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots. The yacht is currently for sale, with delivery scheduled for early summer 2026.
