Taylor Swift’s tribute to “hero” Stevie Nicks during the “Eras” tour through Dublin

Taylor Swift’s tribute to “hero” Stevie Nicks during the “Eras” tour through Dublin

Taylor Swift performed a song by Tortured Poets Department during her third night in Dublin on the “Eras” tour and dedicated it to Stevie Nicks.

During Swift’s June 30, 2024 show in Dublin, Ireland, Swift performed “Clara Bow” during her surprise song set. This marked the live debut of the song (which concludes The Tortured Poets Department).

When introducing the song, Taylor Swift dedicated “Clara Bow” to Stevie Nicks. Swift called Nicks one of her “heroes.”

“The reason I want to play tonight is because a friend of mine is here,” she began. “A friend of mine is here watching the show. She really is one of the reasons why female artists can do what we can do now. And she has mentored so many artists that you don’t even know she’s doing it.

“She has befriended so many artists just to be a helping hand. I can’t tell you how rare that is. She’s one of my heroes and also someone I can tell any secret (and) she would never tell anyone. She’s really helped me through so much over the years. I’m talking about Stevie Nicks,” she continued, drawing loud reactions from the crowd.

Later in the show, Swift referenced the “guy from the Chiefs,” Travis Kelce, during “Karma,” the show’s final song. This isn’t the first time Swift has done this, but it was a wink toward her boyfriend, who was in attendance at the show.

Who is Stevie Nicks?

Stevie Nicks began her career as a duo with Lindsey Buckingham. Both joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975, joining greats such as Mick Fleetwood, Christine and John McVie.

During Nicks’ time with Fleetwood Mac, the band enjoyed great success. Although Fleetwood Mac had already released a self-titled album in 1968, they relaunched the band with another album in 1975. This time, Nicks and Buckingham joined the band.

Their most successful album, “Rumours,” was released in 1977. The album included songs such as “The Chain,” “Dreams,” and “Don’t Stop.” This was followed by “Rusk,” “Mirage,” “Tango in the Night,” “Behind the Mask,” “Time,” and “Say You Will.”

As a solo artist, Nicks has released eight studio albums and continues to tour. She will soon perform her own concert in Dublin, Ireland, and five other dates in Europe.
