George RR Martin hints at the film or TV series “Elden Ring”

Shortly after the release of the DLC “Shadow of the Erdtree”, George RR Martin made a teaser for a film or television series based on “Elden Ring”.

The Game of Thrones author wrote in a blog post about the awards he won, strongly hinting that an adaptation of FromSoftware’s masterpiece was indeed in the works.

“Oh, and as for any rumors you may have heard about a feature film or TV series based on Elden Ring… I have nothing to say,” he said. “Not a word, no, nothing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mom, mom, mom. What rumor?”

I don’t know anything, you never heard a peep from me, mommy, mommy, mommy.

As George RR Martin explained in his blog post, the famous fantasy author was responsible for the “worldbuilding” of Elden Ring, while FromSoftware boss Hidetaka Miyazaka and his team “took care of the rest.” Now, it seems that an Elden Ring movie or TV series is indeed in the making, and George RR Martin will likely be involved in some way.

An Elden Ring film has often been mentioned as a possibility, and fans have pondered how it could be adapted. Miyazaki himself recently revealed that he would be open to an adaptation of the studio’s 25 million-selling 2022 action RPG, but only if a “very strong partner” came into play.

“I see no reason to reject another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, such as a film,” Miyazaki explained in an interview with The Guardian. “But I don’t think I or FromSoftware have the knowledge or ability to produce something in another medium.”

“So this would require a very strong partner,” Miyazaki continued. “We would need to build a lot of trust and agreement on what we want to achieve, but there is definitely interest.”

Meanwhile, Shadow of the Erdtree has been doing wonderfully well, selling five million copies in just three days. IGN’s Shadow of the Erdtree review gave it a 10/10. We said, “Like the base game before it, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree raises the bar for single-player DLC expansions. It takes everything that made the base game such a groundbreaking RPG, condenses it into a relatively compact 20-25 hour campaign, and offers fantastic new challenges for diehard fans.”
