Death in Paradise spin-off Return to Paradise gets major update – details

Filming for the upcoming Death in Paradise spin-off series “Return to Paradise” has officially been completed.

Set in Australia, the highly anticipated six-parter follows the franchise’s first female lead investigator, Mackenzie Clarke, a successful Metropolitan Police officer. After being accused of tampering with evidence, Mackenzie returns Down Under and it’s not long before she finds herself investigating her first murder case.

In June, lead actress Anna Samson announced on Instagram that filming for the series had finished. In addition to a selfie with her colleagues Lloyd Griffith, Tai Hara and Aaron McGrath, the Home and away The actress said she was “heartbroken” that filming had ended. “I got to spend the last three months with these three boys,” wrote the 34-year-old. “I love them more than I can say.” We finished our show this week and it breaks my heart that they are no longer contractually obligated to spend time with me.”

Filming on the series began in April and took place in various locations across Sydney and the idyllic coastal region of the Illawarra. A release date has not yet been set, but the show will be available on BBC One and iPlayer later this year.

Anna plays DI Mackenzie Clarke, who returns to her hometown of Dolphin Cove six years after leaving her fiancé at the altar.

The full synopsis reads: “Return to Paradise follows DI Mackenzie Clarke (Anna Samson), an Australian exile who has made a name for herself in London’s Metropolitan Police by solving unsolvable murder cases. When she is accused of tampering with evidence, Mackenzie returns to Australia, the last place she ever wanted to be – her hometown of Dolphin Cove. Mackenzie is not welcome there because she fled the town six years ago and left her ex-fiancé Glenn (Tai Hara) at the altar.

“But with no other job options and a unique talent for solving any mystery, Mack reluctantly joins the team at the Dolphin Cove Police Department. Once a case lands on her desk, she can’t rest until she’s solved it and the killer is in handcuffs. It’s that tenacity and work ethic that, in time, might help Mackenzie win over her new colleagues and the people of Dolphin Cove.”

In addition to Anna, Lloyd, Tai and Aaron, Catherine McClements, Celia Ireland and Andrea Demetriades star.

The update comes just a few months after the end of Death in Paradise Season 13, which marked Ralf Little’s final role as DI Neville Parker.

Actor Don Gilet, known for his roles in EastEnders And Shetlandhas taken on the new lead role and will play Detective Inspector Mervin Wilson in the upcoming Christmas special and in the 14th season.
