Justin Timberlake’s lawyer speaks out after the singer’s arrest for drunk driving

Justin Timberlake’s lawyer has issued a statement following the pop star’s arrest for alleged drunk driving.

On Wednesday (June 19), the office of attorney Edward Burke Jr. commented on the incident and said he would “vigorously” defend the 43-year-old singer and actor.

“(We) look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations. He will have plenty to say at the appropriate time. He is currently awaiting the full findings from the prosecution,” Burke said in the statement, obtained by TMZ.

Timberlake was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Sag Harbor, NY on Monday evening (June 17). He was arraigned on drunken driving charges the following day.

According to a statement from Sag Harbor Police, a traffic stop was conducted after the “SexyBack” singer “was observed driving a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, failing to stop at a properly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane.”

“It was determined that the defendant was operating the said vehicle while in an intoxicated state as his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, his breath gave off the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, he was unable to divide his attention, he spoke slowly, he was unsteady on his feet and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,” Officer Michael Arkinson’s police report states.

“I drank a martini and followed my friends home,” Arkinson quoted the ten-time Grammy winner as saying in his report.

Timberlake’s next court hearing is scheduled for July 26, the same day he is scheduled to perform at the Tauron Arena in Krakow, Poland. He is currently on his “Forget Tomorrow” world tour.
