Tyla brought the fire – and her home – to the 2024 BET Awards.

The 22-year-old South African singer took the stage during Culture’s Biggest Night at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 30 with a performance of her latest hit “Jump,” featuring Gunna and Skillibeng.

Dressed in a brown two-piece bra and skirt set and black over-the-knee boots, the “Water” singer turned it up as she sang her song behind a cage full of dancers painted as giant tigers – a subtle nod to her loyal fan base, the Tygers.

Gunna and Skillibeng later joined her on stage to rap their verses, while the rising star ended her lively performance – also a tribute to her Johannesburg roots – with her viral dance move “Water.”

Tyla was nominated four times at this year’s BET Awards, winning Best New Artist and Best International Act.

Her latest appearance comes after she canceled her debut concert tour surrounding the release of her self-titled debut album in March, when she revealed she was dealing with the aftereffects of an injury.

“While I would have preferred to discuss this privately, I feel it is important that I share what I have to say with you today. For the past year I have suffered in silence from an injury that has tragically worsened,” Tyla wrote. “I have been hopeful to doctors and specialists, but the pain has only become more excruciating, as has the severity of the situation.”

She added: “It breaks my heart to say this, but as of now I am unable to continue touring. In discussions with medical professionals it has become increasingly clear that continuing with a festival or tour would put my long-term health and safety at risk.”

In an interview with PEOPLE later that month, Tyla gave a sneak peek of what fans could expect when she returned to the stage. “Obviously, what happened, unfortunately, happened, but the plans were there,” she said.

“We gave them an experience, not just a show, and I love that. We always try to do things that are different and more interesting, or things that I think people want to see. That will definitely be part of the planning when we start working on the tour again. We have so many ideas, and it’s just going to be great,” the star continued.

In February, Tyla won her first Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance for “Water,” her breakthrough hit, which reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.

She told PEOPLE of the “surreal” moment: “To hear my name called, walk up on stage and give a whole speech was crazy, especially considering my age and how early I am in my career. I honestly didn’t expect this, but I’m just so grateful it happened. This is history. This is such a big moment for me at home. I really couldn’t be happier.”
