Scottish hotel near a famous castle is for sale

A “profitable” hotel in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, near Balmoral Castle, has been put up for sale for around £1.25 million.

The sale of the 21-room Loch Kinord Hotel is being handled by Christie & Co.

The family that has owned and operated the Loch Kinord Hotel for the past 26 years is “now selling it to focus on other interests,” the real estate agent noted.

Christie & Co said: “The profitable hotel is located in the small village of Dinnet in the heart of Royal Deeside and borders the very popular and picturesque Muir of Dinnet nature reserve. From here you can easily walk around Loch Kinord. The hotel is also close to Balmoral Castle and is a popular destination for families, tourists and fans of the royal family.”

It continues: “The hotel, traditionally furnished throughout, features 21 stylish boutique en-suite bedrooms, a spacious function room, (and) a restaurant and bar area, and three staff quarters.”

Christie & Co pointed out that the hotel “also has eight self-catering lodges that can be booked separately”.

Gary Witham, hotel director of Christie & Co, who is handling the sale, said: “After 26 years of management, the family have decided to sell the hotel to focus on other business interests and allow a new buyer to take over the running of this well-invested, profitable boutique hotel in the heart of Royal Deeside.”

The hotel is described by Christie & Co as “profitable with further potential”.

The Loch Kinord Hotel is for sale for freehold at a guide price of £1.25 million. The hotel listing on online travel agent Booking.com’s website states: “Located in the rustic village of Dinnet in the heart of Royal Deeside, this family-run hotel is ideally located for exploring the Highlands and enjoying tourist and sporting activities in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.”

“Located on the edge of the Scottish Highlands, this Victorian hotel is the perfect base for exploring Scotland’s natural beauty. There are many activities nearby including golf, skiing, fishing and game hunting. Glenshee and Lecht, two of Scotland’s five ski resorts, are both around 30 miles from the hotel.”
