Queen’s Club, Halle, Berlin – best tips for June 20th

Queen’s Club, Halle, Berlin – best tips for June 20th

Queen’s Club, Berlin and Halle predictions and best bets for June 20

The French Open is behind us and there will be exciting events all over tennis between now and Wimbledon (which I have already previewed). There are grass court tournaments in all parts of the world (Queen’s Club, Berlin and Halle) and there will be some Challenger level events being played too. I will be taking a slightly unconventional approach over the next few weeks and taking advantage of the incredible amount of tennis to find an advantage wherever I can. Below are some of the best tennis tips for the Cinch Championships at the Queen’s Club in London, the ecotrans Ladies Open (German Open) in Berlin and the Terra Wortmann Open (Halle Open) in Halle for Thursday 20 June.

I’ll briefly touch on some of my favorite picks below, but I usually have a lot more tennis predictions on the Pro Picks page. I’ll also occasionally add some picks throughout the day, as schedules can sometimes get mixed up due to the international nature of the sport. I also like to see how the odds are developing, but if you want to see more of my picks, check back on the page every few hours.

Record 2024: 404-402 (+46.26 units)

Jack Draper vs Carlos Alcaraz – Queen’s Club
Matteo Berrettini vs. Marcos Giron – Hall

I was a little surprised to see Alcaraz as a slim favorite at -300 against Draper, even though I really like the Brit’s game. I actually mentioned Draper as an insider tip for Wimbledon a few weeks ago, noting that he’s a good bet at 100-1 on DraftKings. Well, Draper is now down to 40-1 there. That’s a really tough draw for Draper, though. Alcaraz is the defending champion at the Queen’s Club and took all of last week off, so he’ll be feeling very fresh coming out of there. Meanwhile, Draper has played a lot of tennis over the past two weeks. On top of that, Alcaraz is just a bit more versatile than Draper, so I can see him using all of his skills to beat the Brit. That’s why I’m playing a two-game moneyline parlay with Alcaraz as the first bet.

In the second part of this match, I’m betting on Berrettini to beat Giron. I’ve been betting on Berrettini all grass season as he’s almost a top five player on this surface. In fact, Berrettini has the third highest raw Elo rating on grass and isn’t far behind Novak Djokovic. The only concern with Berrettini’s health is his, but he’s looked great over the last few weeks. Well, I don’t think that will change against Giron. Berrettini’s first serve is powerful and his forehand is usually the strongest weapon on the court. So while Giron is a versatile player and can play well on faster courts, I don’t know what he can do to trouble Berrettini here.

PARLAY: Alcaraz ML + Berrettini ML (-134)

Jan-Lennard Struff vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas – Halle

Struff has yet to lose a grass match this year, he is 4-0 on this surface. This may be a little confusing considering he has played in two tournaments and won no titles, but the world number 41 had to withdraw before his quarterfinal match in Stuttgart due to illness. But overall, Struff has looked great on grass, where his strong serve and ability to play at the net make him incredibly difficult to break. In fact, Struff’s hold percentage of 85.1% in 2024 is the highest since 2019, and that hold percentage has risen to 90.5% over the last 52 weeks on grass. Now, I don’t think Struff will have any trouble holding against Tsitsipas, even if the Greek star is better than any of the German’s recent opponents.

Overall, I just trust Struff to do well in the decisive moments of this match. Tsitsipas barely beat Henri Squire in his last match, looked very uncomfortable on returns and lacked his usual sharpness from the baseline. Struff has also been successful against Tsitsipas in the past and the two have never played on a surface as fast as this one. These conditions should definitely benefit the German.

Bet: Struff ML (+100)

Brandon Nakashima ML vs Lorenzo Musetti – Queen’s Club

I never hesitate to back Musetti in the right matchup as I really appreciate the Italian’s game. And Musetti has won some important matches in recent weeks, which is nice considering he had a slow start to the season. One of those big wins was a victory over ‘s-Hertogenbosch champion Alex De Minaur in the opening round here. But Musetti must now try to repeat that against Nakashima, who has a very effective game on grass.

Nakashima is really good at getting his serves to the right places, he knows how to cover the court and has a strong backhand. And the American is 6-2 in the eight complete matches he’s played on grass this year – some of them at Challenger level – and I think he would have had a win over Daniel Evans before the Briton retired in the last round. But regardless of the result, Nakashima has played a lot of tennis on this surface so far and I think his direct approach will win out against the flashier Musetti. Still, I’m backing him at plus-money odds. Nakashima is just a little more robust with the ball on his racquet. That should come into play at some point in the match, and it could be later in the sets.

Bet: Nakashima ML (+102)
