Last night (June 30), Swift performed The Tortured Poets Department’s “Clara Bow” live for the first time during her last of three shows at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium. That alone would be a special moment, but Swift made the performance even more exciting by revealing that Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks was in attendance at the arena.

Swift later dedicated the song to Nicks, calling the Fleetwood Mac singer her “hero.” “I’ve never played this song live,” Swift said, then explained, “The reason I want to play it tonight is because a friend of mine is here watching the show. That’s one of the reasons why I, or other female artists, can do what I can do.”

“She paved the way for us… she’s one of my heroes and also someone I could tell any secret to; she would never tell anyone. She really helped me through so much over the years. I’m talking about Stevie Nicks.”

Upon her arrival in Ireland last week, Swift’s welcome was capped off with a bouquet of flowers from U2. In an Instagram story, Swift revealed that the band had sent the flowers along with a note that read: “Welcome back to our hometown… leave some of that?!!!!” The card was signed by her “fan club” – Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr.

Swift shared the gesture, writing, “I’m already feeling the Irish hospitality!! @U2 thank you for always being so classy and cool.” U2 aren’t the only rock icons to have given Swift flowers – in the past week, both Cyndi Lauper and Chrissie Hynde expressed their admiration for her.

After departing Dublin, Swift will make a two-day stop in Zurich, Switzerland before touring Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria. She will then return to London to complete the European leg of the ‘Eras’ tour before heading to Canada, where she will be supported by Gracie Abrams.

NME attended the first UK show of the ‘Eras’ tour, held at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on June 7, and gave the show a glowing five-star review. Hannah Mylrea wrote: ‘Each era is a chapter in its own right. The visual elements mentioned above (supported by different colour palettes) are accompanied by wardrobes of (rapidly changing, often brilliantly sequined) costumes for Swift and her dancers and – of course – the different musical worlds.

“The live performance amplifies the synth sound of ‘Reputation’, and Swift’s guitarists (she’s joined onstage by a great six-piece band and four backing vocalists) rock out. In fact, ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ has never sounded better.”
