Keke Palmer pays tribute to Usher at BET Awards after her baby’s father ‘shamed’ her for her sexy outfit at the singer’s concert

BET Awards viewers expressed surprise online that the network allowed Keke Palmer to participate in a tribute to Usher.

Keke and Childish Gambino, also known as Donald Glover, were both featured in a series of performances paying tribute to R&B singer Usher at the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday night.

Ironically, she sang Usher’s hit “You Make Me Wanna …”

“You make me want to leave the person I’m with (and) start a new relationship with you, that’s what you do,” she sang during the performance.

While some people enjoyed the show, many viewers shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) that they did not understand BET’s decision to choose Keke for the tribute.

“BET needs to explain to me why Childish Gambino and Keke Palmer are honoring Usher,” said one person on the social media platform.

“Mathematics is not mathematics!”

“It sucks that they let KeKe Palmer do this,” another person added.

“BET hates us so much.”

Many BET Awards viewers were shocked by the uproar that followed Keke wearing a black bodysuit under a see-through dress at Usher’s performance in Las Vegas last year.

“Just remembered the Usher and Keke Palmer debacle,” said one X-user about the performance she gave in honor of Usher.

“Somewhere, Keke Palmer’s baby daddy is punching the air,” someone joked.

The actress was seen dancing with Usher at his show while he carried her in a fan Video published on Twitter.

Reacting to the photo, Darius Jackson – who has one-year-old son Leodis Andrellton with Keke – commented on the clip not too happy about what he saw.

“But it depends on the outfit,” he stressed.

“You’re a mommy.”

Amid online brawls from Keke fans, he added in a separate statement:

“We live in a generation where the father of a family doesn’t want the wife and mother of his children to show off her butt to please others and be told what a hater he is,” his post said.

“This is my family and my representation. I have standards and morals for what I believe in. I’m happy with that.”

Many people were excited by the drama and expressed their support for Keke’s performance in honor of Usher.

While Keke has been in the spotlight on Nickelodeon since she was a child, her father is just becoming known in the entertainment industry.

He happens to be the brother of Sarunas Jackson, who rose to fame through his appearance in Issa Rae’s hit HBO series “Insecure.”

The father is an aspiring actor who also worked in the fitness field as a trainer at Inspire Fitness.
