National Geographic airs 26 hours of “Sharkfest” content with Anthony Mackie and Ross Edgley

Shark fans rejoice, because this year there is an extra portion of content. While Discovery is broadcasting Shark Week from July 7, you can get a head start with National Geographic‘s one-month “Shark Festival” beginning Sunday, June 30, 9 p.m. ET. Two specials will air back to back, the first featuring Marvel’s Anthony Mackie and the second featuring athlete Ross Edgley.

The Sharkfest begins with “Shark Beach with Anthony Mackie: Gulf Coasttonight at 9pm ET. Mackie navigates the waters of his hometown of New Orleans to find out why shark sightings are on the rise in local fishing communities. Then, ultra-athlete and shark activist Ross Edgley will attempt to pit his mind and body against four of the ocean’s most impressive sharks in “Shark vs Ross Edgleyat 10 p.m. ET.
