Two top targets turn away from Michigan football ahead of decisions

Two top targets turn away from Michigan football ahead of decisions

You can’t win every recruit, and Michigan football fans should keep that in mind. The Wolverines had an incredible June with eight commitments.

July might be off to a bit of a rocky start, though. Hopefully, there will be some announcements for Michigan football targets on Monday, and one of them is four-star offensive lineman Hardy Watts.

Watts is 6’6″ and 295 pounds and is from Brookline, Massachusetts. Clemson was the frontrunner for a while, but the Wolverines were the favorite to land Watts as the No. 218 overall recruit for the class of 2025 not too long ago, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

The four-star-rated O-lineman seemed like a perfect fit, but the Wisconsin Badgers took advantage of the opportunity before Monday’s decision and secured plenty of Crystal Balls and an expert projection from Steve Wiltfong of On3.com.

Will Michigan get good news on Monday?

Four-star tight end Andrew Olesh, ranked 130th overall in the class of 2025, is still leaning toward Michigan. He is expected to announce his decision on Monday. Michigan football and Alabama are the two contenders, and if there is a delay, it would be a win for Alabama.

A signing announcement on Monday helps the Wolverines, but there are no guarantees in recruiting. Just like Michigan could still turn things around with Watts. You just never know.

Marco Jones, a four-star EDGE prospect ranked No. 157 overall in the class of 2025, has Michigan among his top four, along with Texas, Texas A&M and USC. Texas A&M received a new crystal ball on Sunday night that could be a clue as to where things are headed for one of the top EDGE prospects in the class of 2025.
