Production window for “Die, My Love With Jennifer Lawrence” by Lynne Ramsay

Lynne Ramsay’s Die, my lovewith Jennifer Lawrencehas received a production window.

According to Alberta’s Calgary Herald, filming on Die, My Love will begin next summer. A release date for the film has not yet been set.

What do we know about “Die, My Love”?

“Die, My Love” is based on the 2019 novel of the same name by Ariana Harwicz.

“In a forgotten corner of the French countryside, a woman battles her demons: she is excluded and yet wants to belong, she longs for freedom and yet feels trapped, she longs for a family life but wants to burn the whole house down,” says the description of the novel. “Although her family gives her a surprising amount of leeway for her increasingly unpredictable behavior, she nevertheless feels more and more constrained and oppressed. Motherhood, femininity, the banality of love, the horrors of desire, the brutality, ‘someone else carries your heart forever’: Die, my love meets all of this with raw intensity. It is not a question of if a breaking point will be reached, but when and how violent it will be.”

Ramsay previously told Variety about the film: “It’s very simple. It’s not set in the Arctic. It’s not set on a boat. It’s just them in a house, it’s just them in a village, so it’s easy to do.”

Ramsay also said that Lawrence was the one who first sent her a copy of Harwicz’s novel. “She really responded to the material, which is tough in some ways because it’s about post-natal depression and bipolar disorder,” she explained. “But it’s also funny. Well, I made it funny. I think I made it funny. I hope I made it funny.”

Ramsay is known for directing Ratcatcher (1999), Morvern Callar (2002), We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011) and You Were Never Really Here (2017). She has also directed another film with Joaquin Phoenix, which will be called either Polaris or Dark Slides, and was set to complete production in 2023.
