  • Santa Monica Studio faces the challenge of raising the bar for future boss battles in the series.
  • Speculation points to a possible move to a new realm, but any pantheon must include equally formidable enemies.

God of War has become known for its brutal combat, and the Norse saga has taken boss battles to an even higher level. Throughout the franchise’s time in the Norse realm, God of War has put players to the test with boss battles and it’s hard to imagine how Santa Monica Studio can increase the intensity.

Although God of War 2018 And God of War Ragnarok have many sweaty moments, two bosses from the Nordic saga will be particularly difficult to beat in future games. The Valkyrie queens Sigrun and Gna proved to be some of the most intimidating opponents in both games, and the next God of War has a lot to accomplish thanks to these fights.

The next God of War has a lot to do with boss fights

Against Sigrun and Gna

Sigrun and Gna could be optional bosses in the last God of War games, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t some of the most harrowing encounters players can experience in the series. In the 2018 God of WarIt’s shocking enough to encounter a Valkyrie for the first time, but when all the Valkyries are defeated, Sigrun’s fight can finally be unlocked, and it’s a wild ride. Players will need to be at their best if they want to survive direct combat with Sigrun, and it seemed impossible for God of War Ragnarok to top the boss fight.

But Gna’s introduction to God of War Ragnarok featured another thrilling boss battle that once again put players’ skills to the ultimate test. Since the release of both games, players have been able to pull off some truly impressive victories in a short period of time, but the two Valkyrie Queens are still some of the craziest encounters you can experience in the Norse games.

God of War raises the bar

The future of God of War is currently unknown as Santa Monica Studio has not officially confirmed what the next chapter will include. If the franchise wants to raise the bar with these optional boss fights, the aforementioned developer will have an uphill battle ahead of them. Santa Monica Studio has hit the jackpot with these two characters and their fighting mechanics. Sigrun and Gna are blazing fast and each hit takes a significant chunk out of Kratos’ health bar.

There was speculation that God of War will move to a new realm with a new pantheon of gods, and when that happens, the pantheon should include mythical beings that pack as much punch as the Valkyrie. God of WarThe Nordic saga of has perfectly interpreted the Valkyries and their ferocity, so it would be difficult to find a worthy sequel. Although the Nordic era of God of War was a great exploration of a fascinating pantheon, but it also painted itself into a corner with its next set of enemies. Defeating Odin, battling Valkyrie queens, and killing Heimdall were just a few of the many incredible battles this Norse era had to offer, and meeting the bar this chapter has set high will be a challenge.

As Kratos’ time in the Nordic Empire seemingly comes to an end, God of War is at a crossroads. Santa Monica Studios could surprise everyone and return for another Norse chapter, but all of the biggest threats have already been dealt with, so that’s unlikely. If the franchise decides to explore Egyptian or Aztec gods, as theories suggest, those potential pantheons will have to be bolder than before. While that’s a tall order, Santa Monica Studio has what it takes to create a new chapter. God of War Saga even better.
