Taylor Swift dedicates an acoustic song to her “hero” Stevie Nicks in Dublin

Taylor Swift dedicated an acoustic song to her “hero” Stevie Nicks on the last night of her Eras Tour concerts in Dublin. The award-winning musician has brought her record-breaking spectacle to five continents and 15 countries.

This weekend it was Ireland’s turn and a star-studded guest list was just one of the special highlights of the evening. NFL player Travis Kelce, Swift’s boyfriend, was there, as were Julia Roberts and music legend Stevie Nicks.

The Fleetwood Mac singer was spotted in the VIP tent, but the Shake It Off hitmaker made sure to mention her on stage before singing “Clara Bow” from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, on Sunday.

The 16th track mentions the rock’n’roll icon in the second verse: “You look like Stevie Nicks / 1975, the hair and the lips / The crowd goes wild under her fingertips / Half moonlight, a total eclipse.”

Before the 34-year-old performed the touching lyrics, she told the audience at the Aviva Stadium: “This one is quite simple because I’ve never played it live before. I want to play it tonight because I have a friend here who is watching the show and she is one of the reasons why I, or any other artist, can do what we can do.”

“She has befriended so many artists just to be a role model for them. I can’t tell you how rare that is. She is one of my heroes and also someone I can tell any secret that she would never tell anyone.

“She really has helped me through so much over the years. I’m talking about Stevie Nicks!”

Swift and Nicks have been friends for over a decade. In 2010, a young Swift teamed up with Nicks to perform a three-song mashup at the 52nd Grammy Awards. In December, Swift was named Time magazine’s Person of the Year for 2023, and Nicks was quoted in the article as saying, “I don’t give Taylor advice on how to be famous. She doesn’t need it.”

Swift performed “Lucky One” from “Red (Taylor’s Version)” before sitting down at the piano to play “You’re on Your Own Kid” from “Midnights.” There are 43 shows left on the Eras tour, with the next stop being Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
