Glastonbury cancelled for 2026: Why is the famous British music festival taking a year off?

“We are already in talks with some acts. It’s exciting.”

Typically, Glastonbury is dormant every fifth summer, the last year being 2018 before returning the following year.

Sunday was the final day of this year’s event – with a performance by 58-year-old Shania Twain in the coveted Legends slot before the final headlining act of 34-year-old SZA – née Solana Imani Rowe – on the Pyramid Stage.

Eavis said of this year’s event: “I really want to thank everyone who made this year so special.

“I think the people here show how to live better and they also take a bit of that with them outside.

“It really restores your faith in humanity.”

During their performance on Saturday night, Coldplay put 63-year-old Parkinson’s sufferer Michael J. Fox in a wheelchair to tell him, guitar in hand, that he was the reason they formed a band – in an obvious reference to his guitar playing in Back to the Future.

Dua Lipa had performed on the Pyramid Stage the night before and told a crowd of 100,000 spectators: “I wrote this moment down and wished for it and dreamed about it and worked so hard for it.”
