Chicago Med will be missing a surgeon when the drama returns to NBC for season 10 in the fall. Dominic Rains, aka Dr. Crockett Marcel, is leaving the series, according to Deadline. Rains has been part of Dick Wolf’s medical drama since the fifth season.

Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Marlyne Barrett, Steven Weber and Jessy Schram play the main roles in Chicago Med Series that follows the work and personal lives of the staff at the state-of-the-art trauma center Gaffney Chicago Medical Center in Chicago.

Rains’ departure is not entirely surprising. At the end of season nine, Dr. Marcel tragically lost a child when a transplant failed. He later learned that the child’s father had committed suicide, and Marcel asked for time off from the hospital.

It looks like Marcel will be leaving his post permanently, but it is unknown if Rains will make one final appearance in the series to conclude the character’s on-screen story.

Chicago Med returns to NBC’s Wednesday night schedule in the fall with Season 10. A premiere date for the new episodes has yet to be announced.

What do you think? Are you disappointed that Rains is leaving? Chicago Med? Who would you like to see in the cast?
