Badgers News: Talented Michigan OL 2026 talks revisiting and recruiting

The Wisconsin Badgers welcomed offensive lineman Benjamin Eziuka (class of 2026) to visit earlier this month as the Michigan native camped with the team for a day.

How was the day for the talented lineman that Wisconsin showed early interest in?

“Today was mainly about showing Coach Blazek my movements, my fundamentals, my footwork, all that stuff and how I move as a player. I felt like I showed that pretty well today,” Eziuka said.

Watching Eziuka in camp, it’s clear that he can move with a certain authority but also with agility on his feet. I found his takeoff especially to be outstanding compared to his peers in camp.

How has he worked on this aspect and developed overall as a player?

“Yeah, I practice (my takeoff) for probably 10 minutes when I practice, just taking off straight away, a lot of inside footwork, movement, all that. I feel like I improved my run blocking a lot last year. We were a really strong run team last year, so I had a good opportunity to get a lot of game footage and game work in that regard.”

“I used to feel like I was a much heavier pass protector, but I feel like I’ve made my game a lot more balanced this year.”

Next, the lineman wants to further improve his running game technique to become a better all-around player.

“(As far as improvements go) I definitely need to keep my head up in the run game, see what I’m hitting, not be too aggressive and also bring the power that I need, all that stuff, trust my family a little more in pass protection, not leaning forward, all that stuff, just become a better all-around player.”

A number of schools have already started to take notice of the 2026 offensive lineman; Eziuka has received nine offers so far, and others are regularly showing interest.

How did you feel this year when his recruitment picked up speed?

“It feels good. I’ve been working hard at this since 7th grade, so it’s really nice to see it all come together and have a lot of big schools like Wisconsin interested in me because I’ve always liked that school.”

“I’ve always wanted to get an offer from this school and maybe play for them, so it means a lot to me that Wisconsin is showing so much interest.”

It was a busy summer for the 6-foot-3, 290-pound player, who trained at six different schools: Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Tennessee and Michigan.

Next up are game day visits in the fall before Junior Day next January.

Will Wisconsin be one of the schools Eziuka wants to attend?

“Oh yeah, definitely. I’ll definitely come here for a game in the fall. Yes, I was planning to last year. I just didn’t have transportation sorted out. So I’ll definitely plan it a lot more in advance this year.”
