Shania Twain’s voice at Glastonbury: Country stars Legends slot triggers complaints about ‘sound problems’

Shania Twain appeared to be plagued by sound problems while playing her highly anticipated Legends slot at Glastonbury Festival.

The country pop star played on the final day of the Worthy Farm event, drawing huge crowds following headlining performances by Dua Lipa and Coldplay on Friday and Saturday.

She opened her set with a powerful rendition of “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” after which the guards in front of the stage performed a sort of line dance.

They continued dancing around as Twain, 58, continued her setlist with classic hits like “Don’t Be Stupid,” “You Win My Love” and “Up!”

Unfortunately, Twain’s performance seemed to be affected by similar technical issues as Cyndia Lauper’s show on Saturday, as she was seen fiddling with her in-ears and microphone during the first two songs.

Additionally, she seemed out of step with her band, especially during the opening song.

Fans posted their frustration online while tuning in to the performance on the BBC.

“God, the timing of the vocals is not optimal for Shania, that’s not great from the mixing desk,” posted one fan on X/Twitter.

“Whoever works on the sound team should be fired… it’s clear there is something wrong with Shania considering how much she was playing with her in-ears and mic pack…” one person wrote.

“Come on Glastonbury, get the sound right for Shania,” said another on X/Twitter. “She’s a fighter so keep going but she deserves better than this!”

One viewer asked, “What’s wrong with Shania Twain’s audio?! She really has issues. This is absolutely awful.”

“I think it’s a technical/acoustic issue… she keeps fiddling with her earbuds and even her speech sounds wrong and cuts out,” said one fan. “Poor Shania, maybe a wired mic would be better. They could probably replace it.”

Other fans defended the “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” singer and pointed out that she still managed to entertain the thousands of people at the Pyramid Stage.

“What an amazing artist,” wrote one fan, while another praised her background dancers and band.

Twain has sold over 100 million records, making her one of the highest-selling artists of all time.

She is currently in the middle of her Greatest Hits Tour and will also headline the British Summer Time Festival in London’s Hyde Park on July 7.

The Independent has asked Twain’s representative for comment.
