Chris Pratt drops the truth bomb about his possible joining the DCU

With James Gunn being one of the co-heads of DC Studios and leading the fledgling DC Universe, fans have been asking online if this could mean that some of the stars from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will switch back to directing. Several stars, including Zoe Saldana and Pom Klementieff, have already said they’re willing to do so, and the latest to share this opinion is none other than the leader of the Guardians himself.

Ready to jump

Chris Pratt was out and about in Los Angeles when he was stopped by TMZ (via Deadline) and asked about his recent visit to the set of Superman and a possible reunion with Gunn. The actor was pretty straightforward, saying straight out, “yes, of course,” and he would more than welcome the opportunity to work with Gunn again.

When asked which DC character he would like to play, Pratt was a little more reserved in his answer.

“I’ll have to leave that up to the fans and people like James,” Pratt said. “I’m not entirely sure. I’m really not sure.”

Pratt wasn’t quick to rule out a future return to the MCU, saying he would love the chance to return as Star-Lord.

“Obviously I love playing Star-Lord and hopefully there’s a chance it can happen again,” Pratt said. “I just feel so blessed to be able to do all of this, to be considered for all of this. If it’s right and the fans love it, I’d be more than happy to do it.”

Although Chris Pratt is one of the biggest stars who could make the jump from the MCU to the DCU, he wouldn’t be the first.

From Marvel to DC and back

“Creature Commandos,” which will reportedly premiere on Max in December 2024, already features three notable MCU veterans as part of the titular team.

Gunn’s brother Sean Gunn, who portrayed Kraglin in the MCU and did the performance recording for Rocket Raccoon, previously appeared in The Suicide Squad as Calendar Man and Weasel. Weasel is set to return as part of the team in Creature Commandos, along with the debuting GI Robot, both of whom will be voiced by Sean Gunn.

Frank Grillo, who played Crossbones, and David Harbour, who plays Red Guardian, will also lend their voices to Creature Commandos as Rick Flag Sr. and Eric Frankenstein, respectively.

Nathan Fillion, who has worked regularly with Gunn on previous projects, including various minor roles in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, will appear in 2025’s Superman as Guy Gardner, Earth’s hotheaded Green Lantern.

The theatrical release of Superman is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
