Top target for Michigan State football team for 2025 announces commitment date

Jonathan Smith and the Michigan State football team have stopped holding official visits for the summer, but that doesn’t mean the head coach is done recruiting players.

The 2025 class has 14 commitments as of June 30, and there’s a chance that number will grow soon. Smith likely wants the majority of his class under contract by the 2024 season. And guess what? That’s exactly two months away.

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Smith is focused on some of his key remaining targets and one of them has just announced that it will make its decision here in the next few weeks.

In fact, three-star athlete Bryson Williams announced July 11 as his commitment date.

Williams is another target from Orchard Lake, Mich. St. Mary’s and the Spartans have already signed three-star linebacker Charles White and three-star tight end Jayden Savoury for the class of 2025 from that in-state program. It would make sense for Williams to want to join his teammates in East Lansing next year, but he has 22 other offers to choose from.

Michigan State seems to be the favorite here for Williams, but don’t overlook Pitt, Kansas or Harvard, where he has made all of his official visits. His most recent trip was to East Lansing on June 21, which could help.

He’s clearly a smart kid if he’s got offers from Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Princeton and Yale. That’s the kind of kid you want because not only can he play at a high level, but he won’t have any problems with his grades.

Williams is the No. 930 candidate in his class and the 72nd best athlete overall.
