NFL Insider: Some teams are ‘scared to death’ of what Commanders could be with Jayden Daniels

How good can the Washington Commanders be in 2024? NFL analysts believe the Commanders will be better in 2024, but don’t trust them to come anywhere close to making the playoffs.

Others believe Washington will be terrible again.

However, according to ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, some teams believe the Commanders could be dangerous with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels at quarterback.

“This is the time of year when I talk to teams about the big picture, what they think of this player or that player. Several people have said this week, unprompted, that they’re a little bit scared about what Washington could become with Jayden Daniels,” Fowler said.

“Because he has the excellent running ability that some of the other quarterbacks we’ve seen here have, but he’s more advanced as a passer. I’ve been compared to Lamar Jackson, who maybe doesn’t run quite as well as Jackson, but he runs well enough. But at this stage of his career, he’s a better passer than Jackson. The offensive line is the only thing that could hold Washington’s offense back, because they have a lot of skill that can keep up with Daniels.”

Here is the clip.

The offensive line remains a question. The Commanders have signed two new starters at center (Tyler Biadasz) and left guard (Nick Allegretti). Washington is bringing back Andrew Wylie, who struggled at right tackle last season. At left tackle, the Commanders will go with experienced migrant Cornelius Lucas or third-round rookie Brandon Coleman.

In an ideal world, Washington’s offensive line would improve thanks to Kliff Kingsbury’s offense. Former offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy was determined to pass the ball 40 or more times each week, even when the Commanders were successful running the football. Running the ball will help the offensive line and the quarterback.

What are your expectations for the Commanders’ offensive this fall?
