Ghostface Killah reveals why he never watched Hulu’s Wu-Tang series

Ghostface Killah recently announced that he has never seen Hulu’s hit series, Wu-Tang: An American Sagaand his reason is quite interesting. In a chat with Touré on his show that aired on June 28, Pretty Toney talked about his decision to skip the series.

“I’ve never seen that shit. I’ve never looked at it. Never in my life,” Ghostface said. “RZA knows that. Because that’s not my story. If you want a Ghostface story, you’ll get a Ghostface story.”

He stressed that while parts of his life, such as his two brothers with muscular dystrophy, are included in the series, it does not tell his story in its entirety. When asked if he was curious about the show, he bluntly replied, “I don’t care about that shit.” Although he admitted it was great that the show had received positive feedback, he mentioned that he never watched it because he never spoke to the writer of his character’s role.

Interestingly, Ghostface is not the only Wu-Tang member who didn’t see the show. Last year, Method Man Kevin Hart said on his Golden Heads Podcast, which he also hasn’t watched. He wanted the show to offer creative freedom without feeling constrained by his personal opinions.

“At first I thought, ‘Wow, they’re taking a lot of liberties with the story here.’ I haven’t personally watched an episode yet, but I get the scripts in advance. Not everything is for everyone, that’s all I can say,” Method Man explained, adding that he didn’t want to interfere in the production process and trusted RZA’s vision.

Method Man praised RZA, calling him a “genius” who changed the music industry by negotiating deals that allowed Wu-Tang members to sign solo deals with different labels. This innovative approach fundamentally changed the music world.

Despite not having seen the series, both Ghostface and Method Man respect RZA’s leadership and the legacy of the Wu-Tang Clan. Their stories showcase the complexity and creative decisions that go into bringing the story of such an influential group to the screen.
