Teri Hatcher is not looking for love

Teri Hatcher has “kind of given up” hope of finding love again.
The 59-year-old actress, who has 26-year-old daughter Emerson with ex-husband Jon Tenney, stressed that her “heart is open” to finding a new partner, but she also knows that he would have to be “really special” to catch her eye now because she leads such a fulfilling life.
She told Entertainment Tonight: “I’ve kind of given up. I mean, I don’t want to say I’ve given up. My heart is open.”
“But you know, I have wonderful friends. I travel, I experience things. I take care of my parents. I love my cats. I garden. I go to the beach… It’s just a very full life and the truth is, I think that person, if there ever was one, just has to be very special, you know?
“Instead of pining away, I decided to just put a lot of effort into the life I want to live.”
The former Desperate Housewives star had tried to find love on the dating app Hinge, but she felt it was “silly” to use the platform as many people were only interested in her celebrity status while others thought she was an impersonator, which led to her being “kicked off” the site.
She said: “I got kicked off Hinge. There were enough people I didn’t respond to because they were texting me things like, ‘Are you still ‘real and spectacular’?’ – and I was like, OK, I don’t want to date someone like that.”
She explained that others had asked her if she was the “real” Teri Hatcher: “I never answered those people and I think they got mad and complained and said, ‘Here’s someone pretending to be Teri Hatcher,’ and just kicked me out.”
“It was probably stupid to even try, but I wanted to somehow tell the universe, ‘I’m open. I’m not afraid.’ I tried that, but I think this is the wrong place for me.”
In the meantime, Teri and her daughter are working hard on a joint project and have proposed a series that would be “a hybrid between a very serious reality competition show and a scripted show.”
She explained: “So imagine I’m hosting ‘The Bachelor’ and I walk off the set saying, ‘Cut it out, Larry,’ that’s it in a nutshell – without giving too much away.
“We have met with various companies and there are many interested parties.
“To see my 26-year-old daughter just rocking it… it’s just incredible to sit there and watch her.
“But I also told her, ‘You know, if we’re going to sell this show, we’re going to have to work together every day.’ And for her to say, ‘I’d love that,’ I think is the best thing that’s ever happened to me in my life.”
