If you’re into foodie stuff on TikTok, you might know about Catch’n Ice Cream. Opened by TikTok-famous Dylan Lemay, Catch’n Ice Cream was a unique shop in New York. Before opening his shop, Lemay worked for several other ice cream companies, including Cold Stone Creamery. What set him apart from the rest was his ability to throw scoops of ice cream into his customers’ buckets, hence the name Catch’n Ice Cream.

Unfortunately, just a few years after LeMay opened his own ice cream shop, Catch’n Ice Cream in New York has officially closed. On October 30, Lemay announced to his TikTok fans that the ice cream shop would be closing on November 5. “The last two years have been full of amazing memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life, but I’m really so excited for the future,” he said. Lemay then admitted that being both a TikTok content creator and ice cream shop owner was too overwhelming. “I have no idea why I thought owning an ice cream shop would be easier than running one,” he continued. Despite this news, TikTok will always remember Lemay’s legacy.

The closure sparked scepticism

Lemay, a Michigan native, rose to rapid success after posting videos on his TikTok channel. Just 56 days after posting his video, Lemay reached one million followers. There is some skepticism about why the store closed, evident in comments on TikTok. In one video, Lemay responded to a comment by saying “I mean, $10 for a scoop is crazy.” He quickly refuted the accusation and confirmed that was not the reason the store closed. Others believed that dropping the ice cream they were throwing into buckets was the reason for the business’s demise. “We didn’t close because people were dropping ice cream,” Lemay said. However, he admitted that such drops are quite expensive when they happen. “We firmly believe that our experience is worth the price.”

Fans of the store were deeply saddened to hear the news. “NO! I’m going to NYC on the 16th.thwrote one disappointed commenter on TikTok. “I’ve always wanted to go to New York just to eat your ice cream,” wrote another. It’s unclear what Lemay will do next, but hopefully it’s as successful as his last endeavor.
