Rekha Bhardwaj said of her singing performance, “Kill is a special film not only because of the praise it received before its release but also because of its unconventional storyline. ‘Nikat’ is more than just a song; it is an emotion, a source of nourishment and a powerful energy boost. We hope it crosses boundaries and touches hearts with its deep emotional levels and vitality expressed through the singing.”

Lyricist Siddhant Kaushal explains, “‘Nikat’ is about the deep feeling of wanting to be close to someone you love. Our aim was to write a song that would speak to anyone who has experienced the heaviness of love and we hope the audience can relate to the same feeling.”

Composer Haroon Gavin also spoke about the creation of the piece.

“Collaborating with Rekha ji on ‘Nikat’ has been a deeply enriching experience. Our aim was to create music that would resonate with listeners on a deep level, capturing moments of intimacy and reflection through melody and lyricism. Rekha ji’s evocative voice with its nuances and subtle pauses (‘thaharaav’) became an integral part of the narrative we wanted to create. It was a journey where all the puzzle pieces came together effortlessly and I am excited to share this musical story with the world,” said Haroon.

Kill is directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat and produced by Karan Johar. Kill premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023 and is now slated to hit theaters on July 5, 2024. It also stars Raghav Juyal, Ashish Vidyarthi and Harsh Chhaya in lead roles. (ANI)
