Taylor Swift congratulates Simone Biles on her floor routine at the US Olympic Qualifiers

Simone Biles, unsurprisingly, tops the rankings after the first night of the 2024 U.S. Olympic gymnastics trials, and one superstar fan is cheering her on from afar: Taylor Swift. The gymnast, who has won seven Olympic medals, sang a medley that included Swift’s song “…Ready For It?” during her floor exercise at the U.S. Olympic trials in Minneapolis on Friday.

Biles, the reigning world champion and self-proclaimed GOAT, was already a sure bet for the Paris team before Friday night, but her top score of 58.900 brings her even closer to that spot. For the uninitiated, the best all-arounder at the Trials has a spot on the Olympic team secured.

Taylor Swift took a break from her Eras tour to cheer on Simone Biles

Swift, who once moved Biles to tears with her video tribute during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, took a break from her tour in Dublin this weekend to show her affection for the gymnast on social media.

“I’ve seen it so many times and I’m still not ready,” said the 14-time Grammy winner, adding, “But she’s ready for it.”

Biles, who concluded her floor routine with “DELRESTO (ECHOES)” by Travis Scott featuring Beyoncé, began with the Swift medley at the 2024 Core Hydration Classic last month.

The gymnast told NBC that her agent suggested incorporating Swift’s music into the new floor routine, choreographed by French dancer Gregory Milan.

“Then I found this song by Beyoncé that I really liked and we did a kind of collaboration… I love Taylor Swift and I love Beyoncé… Those are my girls,” Biles said.

Her strong performances on floor, parallel bars and vault helped her overcome some wobbles on the balance beam and still finish first.

Simone Biles’ husband Jonathan Owens was spotted at Taylor Swift’s Eras tour

While Biles, cheered on by her mother Nellie and her husband, Chicago Bears player Jonathan Owens, wowed the crowds at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Swift captivated the audience during the European leg of her Eras Tour.

The singer is currently in Ireland after performing in London with many celebrities, including a cameo appearance by her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce.

Performing at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on Friday, June 28, and Saturday, June 29, Swift rocked the colors of the Irish flag during the 1989 portion of her Friday show. The next day, she spoke to the audience about the creation of the fictional story of her pandemic-era fantasy-inspired album Folklore, pointing out its connection to Ireland.
